Dear Health Care Human Resources Colleagues:
Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to visit the AHHRA website. Our world of healthcare human resources administration is varied, complex and challenging. 2009 is likely to present us with a new landscape as Congress considers and acts on legislation that will change the world of employee relations if that legislation is enacted.
It is easy to become so involved with our day-to-day work life that our own professional development sometimes takes a back seat. That’s where AHHRA can play an important and beneficial role in your on-going professional development. AHHRA’s mission is to provide a forum for networking, professional development, support and advocacy to healthcare human resources practitioners – and AHHRA accomplishes that mission by being ethical, collaborative, accountable, respectful and having fun along the way.
AHHRA was recognized in 2008 by the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration for outstanding Chapter Management with a 4-Star award of excellence. This recognition was earned based upon a variety of criteria including educational programming, support and promotion of the profession and effective management of chapter resources. In 2008, AHHRA held several educational programs including the annual one day conference in May which brought together an agenda of human resources professionals who shared their insight and expertise on matters critical to our profession.
Plans are already under way for an expansion of our educational offerings in 2009 through expanded networking with other professional human resources societies and associations. The programming not only will provide you the chance to hear current H.R. thought leaders but also venues for valuable networking with colleagues.
AHHRA is also an opportunity for you to get involved! On behalf of your fellow H.R. professionals, including those in recruitment and compensation, we invite you to join us in whatever way your schedules, interest and talents allow. There are opportunities to participate on a host of committees and certainly to attend our programs and to expand your professional network.
Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote that “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” We enthusiastically invite you to become a member of AHHRA.
Joe Marquart
AHHRA President, 2009
